New York, NY – March 6, 2020 – NBCUniversal, in partnership with the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) SEEHER initiative, has announced that for the first time in its 30-year history, the company’s iconic “The More You Know” is focusing on a single topic for 2020 – women’s empowerment – in a year-long campaign branded “The More You See Her.” Led by the Association of National Advertisers (ANA), SEEHER is the leading industry movement to increase accurate portrayals of women and girls in advertising, marketing, media and entertainment. SEEHER members Citi and P&G have signed on as two of the official launch sponsors for the NBCUniversal campaign, which kicked off this morning.
In support of the campaign, on-air and online spots were created to cover various topics women face today, including the representation of women and promoting diversity in media, mentoring the next generation of girls and women, supporting women-owned businesses, encouraging equal pay and using social media to lift women up. The spots feature a wide array of NBCUniversal talent such as TODAY anchors Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Al Roker, Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones, Deidre Hall of Days of our Lives, Kate del Castillo of La Reina del Sur, Nina Garcia of Project Runway, Chris Sullivan of This Is Us, and many more.
Citi, a proud supporter of SEEHER, announced its partnership with “The More You See Her” this morning on TODAY. P&G brands Secret Deodorant and Olay Body are also launch partners and will run spots throughout the campaign.
“At NBCUniversal, we are committed to creating positive change in communities through our platforms and initiatives like ‘The More You Know,’” said Hilary Smith, EVP of NBCUniversal Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility. “With 2020 being a momentous year, we’re proud to shine a light on women’s advancement through ‘The More You See Her.’”
“We have partnered with the ANA on SEEHER from the very beginning because we believe deeply in its mission and are thrilled to combine that with the power and history of NBCUniversal’s ‘The More You Know,’” said Laura Molen, President of Advertising Sales and Partnerships, NBCUniversal. “‘The More You See Her’ will give attention to the empowerment of women like no other campaign and we are proud to bring on incredible sponsors like Citi and P&G to help us tell these stories.”
“The More You Know” has become engrained in the American lexicon, championing advancement for all and inspiring a change in behavior to help improve your daily life and the lives of others. Leading up to the 2020 centennial anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing and protecting women’s constitutional right to vote, “The More You See Her” will inspire audiences to continue to advance women in society overall, at work, at home and in classrooms across the country.
